Detailed description

The Huangbai Railway (Huangtong–Baise Railway), also known as the Huangtong to Baise Railway, is a Grade-I national railway with electric traction, serving both passenger and freight traffic. It connects Anshun City in Guizhou Province with Baise City in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, linking seamlessly to the Shanghai-Kunming Railway in the north and the Nanning–Kunming Railway in the south. As a key component of the western route within the New Western Land-Sea Corridor, it plays a vital role in enhancing regional connectivity and economic integration.

The Huangbai Railway starts at Huangtong Station on the Shanghai-Kunming Railway, passes through Anshun City, Liupanshui City, and Qianxinan Prefecture in Guizhou Province, as well as Baise City in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and finally ends at Baise Station on the NanKun Railway. The railway has a total length of approximately 315 kilometers, with a designed speed of 160 km/h, and includes a total of 27 stations.

On December 8, 2023, construction officially began on the Huangbai Railway. [10] On June 21, 2024, it was reported that excavation work had started at Shaft No. 2 of the Dayi Tunnel. [17] In the early morning of August 4, the first section of secondary lining concrete was successfully poured in Shangli Tunnel—the longest tunnel along the Huangbai Railway—marking the start of a new phase in the tunnel's construction process. [22] Finally, on December 25, the signal interlocking equipment replacement project at Huangtong Station on the Huangbai Railway was successfully completed and opened to traffic.
